Should I get the Premium Lens or the Plus Lens?

Both the Premium and the Plus lenses are better than no protection at all. The Premium will offer twice the protection as the Plus lens, but comes with a slight yellow tint.

For those with 6+ hours of screen time in a day or who plan to wear them at night, we recommend the Premium lenses for optimal protection.

For those who need a true-color experience because you work with color on your screen (designers, photographers, etc), the Plus lens is for you. Or, if you just don't like the look or feel of the yellow tint, this may be a better option. Some protection is always better than no protection, and our Plus lenses have the highest amount of protection with a true-color experience on the market.

How do I know if the frames will fit me?

We don't believe in gender-izing frame styles, everyone has their own style and personal preference. That said, we do know it can be hard to size up a pair of frames through a screen. We size our frames from small to to large, based on the size of face the glasses fit with an average styling. For an "over-sized" look, pick the larger frames if you have a smaller face, and vice-versa.

Worst case, shoot us an email at happiness@harteyewear.com with your mug shot and we'll send you a personalized recommendation from our in-house stylist!

Do you have any kids glasses?

With schools going online, plus gaming, social media, and a general screen filled life, we strongly recommend kids wear blue-light protecting glasses. In fact, as we age we slowly develop a natural blue blocking ability in our eyes, as our crystalline lens becomes relatively less transparent and more yellow in color. This means children, and those who have undergone cataract surgery, are the most susceptible to blue-light exposure.

We recommend any of our smaller style frames which would be great for kids aged 8 and up. Take a look at the Dale and the Sperry, both of which fit kids great!

Can I use my FSA/HSA funds to pay for my glasses?

Yes! Blue-light glasses are considered eligible products for your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) with most providers. Don't let your pre-tax dollars go to waste!

Do you offer prescription glasses?

Yes! We offer single vision prescriptions in all of our frames. Just select the prescription lens option on the frame of your choice and upload your prescription or email it to us afterwards. If you aren't sure if your Rx is single vision, send us an email at rx@harteyewear.com and we are happy to help!

How do I protect my sleep patterns with these?

We recommend using our HART Premium Lens for optimal sleep protection. Our circadian rhythm is is based on sun light, which is why we are are awake and alert during the day and fall asleep at night. Once the sun sets, our body begins to produce melatonin which is an important part of a healthy sleep cycle. The HART Premium Lens will best help you protect this process by blocking the frequencies from your screens that mimic sunlight and tell your body to stay alert. Put these on once the sun sets and enjoy your devices as usual.

How dangerous is blue-light?

This is a very important question, and one that we believe is over-simplified and used to scare people into buying products that won't really help. The honest answer is that we don't really know HOW dangerous blue-light is.

There has not been enough time to study and understand the long-term effects of excessive blue-light exposure from screens since we haven't been living this screen-filled lifestyle for all that long. While there is some great evidence that suggest blue-light effects sleep patterns through the disruption of melatonin production, there is still debate if blue-light is THE contributing factor to digital eyestrain, also known as Computer Vision Syndrom (CVS). There is likely a variety of factors at play, and there have not been conclusive studies that successfully isolate these factors and their individual contribution to CVS.

Put simply, we don't know if blue-light exposure is the only cause of digital eyestrain, but it is likely a contributing factor. Therefore, blue-light glasses will help to protect from these issues in addition to other wellness practices.

At the end of the day, while the science is figuring out exactly what is going on, our glasses make us feel better than we did before we had them. We suggest trying them for yourself to see how you feel. Remember, we have a risk free, 30-day return policy so if you don't love them as much as we do, send them on back!

How should I care for my glasses?

We provide you with a microfiber cloth that is great for cleaning the lenses. A diluted dishwashing soap with room temperature water can work great as well.

Keep your glasses away from high heat such as on top of a heater or on the dashboard of a hot car.

While we do offer a manufacturers warranty, that does not cover normal wear and tear, scratched lenses, heat exposure, or mistreatment. We can replace scratched or damaged lenses if needed for a $50 fee with free back-and-forth shipping. Email help@harteyewear.com to arrange for replaced lenses.

What are carbon offset credits?

We are partnered with EcoCart, who uses an algorithm to calculate, based on weight, size, and shipping distance of the product, to calculate the emissions created by that order. By buying a carbon offset credit, that payment is diverted to a certified carbon offset project such as tree planting or sustainable water purification.
